Greetings lovely people, and the warmest of welcomes to all who are new to Annie's Place. March has arrived to my little corner of Bedfordshire in a blaze of sunshine, what a glorious start to the month it has been.
I've been feeling as mad as a March hare lately, all giddy & excitable knowing the days are soon to get longer. More light means more quality crafting time. I really can't wait till I can take my hook & yarn down by the riverside, lay out a blanket and crochet away to my hearts content. I know the sun is not forecast to last much past today, but I don't care, at least we've had a little taster of what's (hopefully) to come!
On the crochet front I've been flitting again. Surprise surprise there's yet another project on the hook this week. An instantly gratifying, quickie project this time though. A little stripy number, that will be fashioned into a cushion cover. Just simple rows of treble (UK) crochet stitches, on a 3.5mm hook, using Stylecraft acrylic. I really like pinks and greys together, so this has been a joy to work up.
It should be finished by the end of the week (famous last words)
Back soon x x x
Pink and grey, a fantastic colour combination! I've been all excited with seeing so much sun and colour outside again. Spring cleaning is now calling me. Chel x
ReplyDeleteYes the spring is coming I can almost smell it in the air.

Lovely colours Sharron!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is nice to be able to enjoy the daylight for a bit longer each day - more crafting time is always welcome!

I love the pink and gray. Very feminine but also sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteIt has been almost a short sleeves summer day today and perfect for sitting outside hooking away - but unfortunately it was not to be - but I can dream. I love your colour combination can't wait to see the finished cushion x
ReplyDeleteOh that image - sitting in the sun with some crochet - bliss! Your cushion looks lovely x Jane

Yesss we've had a glorious sunshiny day as well yesterday (I'm trying to ingore the cloudiness as I look through the window right now) and it has done a world of good! It was the first day of the year I could walk ouside without a coat on, how I've missed that!
ReplyDeleteWow, the pinks and greys look stunning together, I'm looking forward to seeing the Ta-Dah! :-) xxxx

Bedford river is lovely in the summer isn't it? Lovely idea to sit and crochet outside in nice weather, I will probably be stuck in Russell Park by the swings though!! Love your new cushion - that basket of yarn looks at lot like mine, lol. And I'm glad to see you flitting around all your projects, it's good to embrace your creativity xxx
ReplyDeleteOoo! Please tell me the colours, I have been looking for a colour palette for my daughters blanket and have just fallen in love with yours! Why do you always make such lovely colour choices? Also, I see ur in Beds also, is there a local shop that stocks stylecraft? I'm in Luton, and currently order online. Sorry for all the questions!
ReplyDeleteI cant wait till we get the warmer weather and to be able to sit out in the garden with my hook in hand. I love those colours together x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the comment :-) I've totally fallen in love with your colour scheme, infact after being nosey on here, I am in love with many of your colour choices, not only the rainbow ones but the lovely pastel solid squares you're working on. Only wish I could have the same talen at picking colours, I just seem to copy other people! :-(
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, and thank you for being so kind. As far as 'copying' goes, I don't see it that way, I see it as one person inspiring another to be creative. I'm more than happy for you to use my colour choices, so don't feel bad!
DeleteHere you are then, the colours in the Stylecraft Special DK are as follows:
Raspberry
Plum
Pale Rose
White
Silver
Grey
Clematis
Pomegranate
I've just realised I have also thrown in a bit of King Cole too, but I'm afraid I don't have the exact details, as I discarded the bands. However, those Stylecraft colours I've listed are the main colours I've used, so you might want to just play with those.
Also, if you don't already know there's a lovely yarn shop in Wilstead called All Stitches, part of Briar Bank Park (MK45 3ES). If you're ever venturing out that way, you should pop in. Helen stocks some lovely yarns there, and is really helpful when choosing.
Hope this helps?! :)
Thats fantastic! I'm going straight onto Masons website and ordering them. I found the details of that yarn shop earlier today when being nosey on here. I'm definitely going to pop to Wilstead and have a nosey, there is 1 yarn shop in luton, but its a bit uninspiring and unfriendly. Thanks again for finding out the colours :-)
DeleteLove the colors together, I really need to try some stylecraft as everyone loves it.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Beautiful blog and the most inspiring crocheting! Just a little question, how do group your photographs together like that? It looks so effective.
